Modern 43 m2 Living Room with a Kitchenette – a Harmonious Space with a U-Shaped Kitchen, Dining Area, and Lounge
When designing this 43 m2 living room with a kitchen annex, we focused on modern elegance, functionality, and material consistency. A single herringbone floor throughout, muted colors, and a carefully planned U-shaped kitchen with a breakfast bar allowed us to create an interior that combines everyday comfort with visual lightness. In this project, we aimed for natural light, soft forms, and subtle accents that highlight a distinctive yet still cozy style.
43 m2 Living Room with Kitchen Annex – a cohesive living space
Throughout the entire living area, we ensured a smooth transition between the kitchen, dining area, and living room. The absence of visual floor divisions, repeated materials, and a consistent color palette make the interior feel like one harmonious whole rather than three separate rooms.

A thoughtfully designed U-shaped kitchen with an island bar
The central element of the space is the kitchen, designed in a functional U-shaped layout with a convenient breakfast bar acting as a peninsula. This solution perfectly connects the cooking area with the dining and living zones, allowing for easy movement and ergonomic work.

The green, muted cabinet fronts contrast beautifully with the black handles and blend seamlessly with the natural wood of the countertops and floor. A stone-look backsplash visually warms the space, while a minimalist yet decorative pendant light above the kitchen area completes the modern composition.

Dining area with forest-motif wallpaper – a strong accent and natural atmosphere
In the dining area, we used a striking tree-branch wallpaper that creates subtle natural depth and brings a sense of calm into the interior. A table with a wooden top and black legs works perfectly with the overall design, while light upholstered chairs add softness and elegance.

We suspended distinctive modern green pendant lights above the table — one of those details that ties the entire design together by linking the kitchen’s color scheme with the dining area.

Concealed curtain tracks – aesthetics at the highest level
Throughout the living area, we used concealed curtain tracks that hide rods and rails. This makes the fabrics appear to fall straight from the ceiling, giving the interior a luxurious, hotel-like character. The solution not only tidies up the window area but also visually raises the ceiling.

One continuous floor – the foundation of cohesion
In the kitchen, dining area, and living room, we used the same herringbone-pattern wooden floor, which was one of the key design principles. This created a seamless, harmonious space without visual breaks, making the interior feel larger and more elegant.

Modern lounge area with vertical slats and a fireplace
In the living room, we created a warm and elegant TV zone based on vertical decorative panels that add lightness and subtle texture. A minimalist custom-made media cabinet appears to float above the floor, giving the area a light, modern look while still providing practical storage.
On the right side, a stone-clad fireplace enhances the cozy feel and introduces a natural visual accent. The whole area is lit by modern, openwork ring-shaped pendant lights.

FAQ – frequently asked questions
1. Does a U-shaped kitchen work well in a living room with a kitchenette?
Yes, as long as there is enough circulation space. A U-shaped layout is highly ergonomic and shortens the distance between cooking, washing, and storage zones.
2. Is one continuous floor in the entire living area a good idea?
Definitely — it makes the interior cohesive, elegant, and visually larger. We especially recommend herringbone or wide planks in muted tones.
3. Why use concealed curtain tracks?
Hiding the curtain hardware creates a modern, clean look. The curtains appear lighter, and the space feels more ordered and luxurious.
4. Is wallpaper in the dining area a practical choice?
Absolutely. Wallpaper adds character, creates a backdrop for the table, and gives the arrangement a unique expression.
