Small room for a 10-year-old girl 8,9m2 – functional interior design with horse wallpaper and a study zone
A small room does not mean small possibilities. In this project, we designed a room for a 10-year-old girl with an area of 8,9m2, which had to include everything that truly matters: a comfortable bed, a functional study zone, smart storage solutions and a touch of “magic” reflecting the young owner’s passion.
The girl loves horses – which is why they became the heart of the entire concept. We chose a spectacular wallpaper featuring galloping horses and a large floor lamp with a horse sculpture that sets the mood and gives the interior a unique character. This interior design combines functionality with emotion – and these are exactly the kinds of interior projects we love to create.

Room Analysis
The interior project concerned a room with an area of 8,9m2. The layout was rectangular, with a window on the shorter wall. The main design challenges included limited space, the need for a full-size desk, sufficient storage, and incorporating a strong horse motif in a cohesive and light way.

Our goal was to create a functional interior arrangement that would not feel cramped. We focused on brightness, visual lightness and a clear division into zones: sleep, study and storage.
4. Concept and Key Interior Elements
Horse Wallpaper – The Visual Focal Point
The wall behind the bed was finished with wallpaper featuring white galloping horses at sunset. It is the strongest accent of the entire design and a true fulfillment of the child’s dream. We used it on only one wall to create a “wow” effect, highlight her passion and avoid overwhelming the small space.

Large Horse Floor Lamp – A Detail That Sets the Mood
One of the most distinctive elements is the large floor lamp with a horse sculpture. It is not only a light source but also a decorative feature that strengthens the main theme of the arrangement. In a small interior, such elements must be carefully considered – here, the lamp acts as a visual axis between the study area and the vanity zone.

Vanity with LED Mirror
At the age of 10, children begin to need their own small private space. We designed a compact vanity with an LED-lit mirror. It is a subtle yet important feature – supporting a sense of growing independence while remaining practical for everyday use.

Functional Zones
Sleep Zone
The bed with a soft upholstered headboard was positioned against the wallpapered wall. This creates a cozy and safe resting area where the pattern frames the zone naturally without competing with other elements.
Study Zone
The desk was placed under the window, with full depth, an ergonomic chair and additional shelving above. Natural daylight supports concentration, while the light color palette keeps the composition calm and balanced.
Storage and Beauty Zone
Cabinets, shelves and built-in storage around the desk help maintain order. This is crucial in a school-age child’s room – the better the storage planning, the easier it is to keep the space harmonious.
Material Details
We opted for light matte furniture fronts, warm-toned wooden flooring and soft textiles in muted shades. The wallpaper was selected for durability and everyday resistance. Materials were chosen with a strong focus on longevity, easy maintenance and overall design consistency.
Interior Color Scheme
The palette is based on white, light beige and subtle blue tones. This keeps the room airy and fresh, allowing the horse wallpaper to remain the main visual accent. Such a color scheme promotes calmness while beautifully supporting decorative details.

Design Team Commentary
When designing children’s rooms, we always seek a balance between dreams and functionality. In this interior, it was essential that the love of horses was not just decoration, but a true design inspiration. We introduced bold wallpaper and a sculptural lamp while keeping the furniture minimal. This ensured the space feels light rather than overwhelming.
Small spaces require strong design discipline – every centimeter here was carefully considered to provide a comfortable study area, a peaceful sleeping zone and organized storage.
