In our design for Patryk from Zielona Góra, we gave each function its own clearly defined area. A blue colour scheme, football accents and LED lighting give the room character, while carefully selected off-the-shelf furniture keeps the space organised. The images in this article are design renderings. ## What mattered most in the design of Patryk's room? A 12 m² room has to accommodate several everyday activities. Instead of filling it with numerous small pieces of furniture, we planned three distinct areas: a place for studying and gaming, a sleeping area and storage. The design uses ready-made furniture, so selecting the right sizes and arranging the pieces together was essential to leave enough room to move around. This is one specific layout, not a universal formula for every room of this size: the final arrangement always depends on the dimensions and positions of the walls, door and window. ## A desk for studying and gaming near the window The white desk sits against a wall near the window. The rendering shows two monitors on a mount, a keyboard, a desk lamp and an adjustable chair. The worktop can therefore serve both studying and computer use. The monitor mount helps keep the space in front of the screens clear. When setting up the desk, it is also important to check the position of the equipment, access to power outlets and cable routing. The navy wall behind the desk has a decorative texture. Blue lighting gives the setup its atmosphere, but reading and homework also call for a separate, practical desk light. Keeping task lighting and mood lighting separate makes the room easier to use at different times of day. ## A sleeping area with a football theme An upholstered bed is placed along the opposite wall. The football theme appears in the wall graphic behind the bed, the bedding and the decorative footballs. Ready-made wall-mounted shelves above the bed hold books and small items. The sports theme is concentrated in this part of the room, so the other furnishings can remain simple and easy to combine with different accessories later on. Before installing shelves above the bed, check how they will be fixed to the wall and make sure they are positioned at a comfortable height. The design shows the layout and appearance of this area; installation details need to be adapted to the actual conditions in the room. ## How did we make use of the walls in a 12 m² room? A tall, light-coloured wardrobe with solid doors stands against one wall, with an open bookcase beside it. These ready-made pieces were chosen to form one orderly storage area. The closed sections hold clothes and larger items, while the open shelves provide space for books and things used every day. Silhouettes of football players appear on the wardrobe doors, adding another detail connected to Patryk's interests. When choosing a ready-made wardrobe, check its internal layout, the dimensions of the bookcase and the clearance needed to open the doors before buying. The renderings show an intense blue lighting setting. For everyday use, it is worth planning separate controls for general, desk and decorative lighting, with the option to turn off the strong colour while studying or resting. The final choice of light fittings, power supplies and electrical points should be coordinated with the technical design. ## How should you budget for a similar room with ready-made furniture? The cost of furnishing a 12 m² room depends on the scope of work and the products selected, so floor area alone is not enough for a reliable estimate. List the cost of the design, wall and floor preparation, ready-made wardrobe and bookcase, bed and mattress, desk and chair, shelves, lighting, decorations and labour separately. Include computer equipment as a separate item if you plan to buy it along with the room furnishings. First, check the availability and dimensions of your chosen furniture and decide which items you need immediately. Leave a contingency for price differences, delivery, carrying furniture inside, assembly and any unforeseen work identified after inspecting the room. Ready-made furnishings still require careful planning: the depth of the wardrobe, space to move around and the position of power outlets relative to the desk and lighting all matter. In this design, sports motifs are concentrated around the bed and on the wardrobe doors.
