Can a 60 m² apartment be designed in an elegant and functional way without having all the furniture custom-made? The apartment interior design created for Mr Tomasz from Warsaw proves that it definitely can.

One of the main objectives of this project was to use a large proportion of **ready-made furniture, including furniture available from IKEA**. This makes the interior easier to implement and allows the investor to reduce the number of more expensive custom-made joinery elements.

The apartment has approximately **60 m²** and consists of a living room combined with a kitchen and dining area, a hallway, a bathroom, a master bedroom and a second bedroom used as a guest room.

The entire interior is based on a bright and calming colour palette. White, beige and natural wood are complemented by muted blue and navy accents. There are also references to the Hamptons style and coastal interiors, especially in the wall decorations, textiles and distinctive white-and-blue patterns.

## 60 m² Apartment Design – Consistency Throughout the Interior

When designing an entire apartment, maintaining visual consistency between individual rooms is particularly important. However, this does not mean that every room has to look exactly the same.

In Mr Tomasz's apartment, the common design elements include:

- light-coloured furniture fronts,

- warm wood tones,

- cream and beige walls,

- white interior elements,

- blue and light-blue accents,

- classic moulded furniture fronts,

- simple and timeless forms,

- details inspired by the seaside and Hamptons style.

Thanks to this approach, the living room, kitchen, bedrooms, hallway and bathroom form one coherent interior, even though each room has its own individual character.

## Living Room with Open-Plan Kitchen – The Heart of the Apartment

The largest shared space combines the living room, dining area and kitchen. This is where the investor will spend most of his time, so our aim was to combine several functions comfortably without visually overwhelming the interior.

The lounge area features a large, light-coloured sofa with a chaise section. It is complemented by a simple white coffee table, a blue-patterned rug and large wall prints inspired by coastal landscapes.

Light fabrics and a neutral base make the living room feel spacious, while blue accessories give it more character. Large glazing also allows plenty of natural light into the interior.

## Dining Area Between the Living Room and Kitchen

A large dining table was placed in the central part of the open-plan living area. It clearly defines the dining zone without closing off the space.

Its wooden tabletop refers to both the flooring and the kitchen worktop, visually connecting the different parts of the room. Light upholstered chairs introduce a more elegant element, while glass pendant lights above the table add a sense of lightness.

## White Kitchen with Blue Patterned Tiles

One of the most distinctive elements of the apartment is the kitchen.

We used light-coloured, classic framed cabinet fronts. The tall cabinetry extending almost to the ceiling provides plenty of storage space without making the interior feel heavy.

The warm wooden worktop softens the white cabinetry and works beautifully with the wooden flooring.

The strongest decorative accent is the **white-and-blue patterned tile backsplash**. Its repeating ornament adds character to the kitchen and refers to the blue tones used throughout the living room, bedrooms and bathroom.

## Apartment Design with Ready-Made Furniture – Does Everything Have to Be Custom-Made?

A comprehensive apartment design does not necessarily mean that every piece of furniture has to be made by a carpenter.

In Mr Tomasz's apartment, a large proportion of the furniture was selected from **ready-made products available from popular retailers, including IKEA**.

This solution has several advantages. The investor knows the price of a particular product, can easily check its availability and can replace an individual piece of furniture in the future without having to order new custom-made joinery.

Custom-made furniture is particularly useful in areas where it allows difficult or unusual spaces to be used more effectively, for example in kitchens, full-height wardrobes or technical storage units.

Combining ready-made furniture with individually designed built-in units is often one of the most practical solutions.

## Hallway – Plenty of Storage Space

The hallway was designed to be more than just a circulation area.

Tall built-in storage provides additional space, while the wooden side panel adds warmth to the light-coloured fronts and visually connects the furniture with the flooring.

Further along the hallway, there is a light console table with a round mirror as well as an additional storage cabinet positioned against the wall.

The large mirror is both practical and decorative. It reflects light and visually enlarges the space. The neutral colour palette of the hallway creates a calm introduction to the rest of the apartment.

## Master Bedroom – Blue Feature Wall and Classic Details

In the master bedroom, we decided to introduce a stronger colour accent.

The wall behind the bed is finished in a muted shade of blue and decorated with wall mouldings. This creates an elegant backdrop for the large upholstered bed.

Small bedside tables and wall lamps are positioned on both sides of the bed.

The built-in storage on the opposite wall combines white with natural wood. Open wooden shelves break up the large surface of the light-coloured fronts while also providing space for books and decorative accessories.

## Guest Room – Additional Functionality Without Compromising Comfort

The second bedroom was designed as a guest room.

Instead of a traditional bed, a sofa was used, allowing the room to remain more spacious on a daily basis and giving it additional functionality.

A gallery of coastal-inspired prints was arranged on the wall. Blue, white and beige tones, together with natural motifs, once again refer to the design language used throughout the apartment.

On the opposite wall, there is a television and a light storage unit. The blue feature wall and white-and-blue striped rug give the room a stronger individual character.

## Bathroom with Blue Cabinetry and Patterned Flooring

The bathroom continues the colour scheme used throughout the apartment.

Most of the walls have been kept light, helping the room feel larger. Blue furniture and patterned flooring provide contrast, while also referring to the tiles used in the kitchen.

The washbasin area features a blue vanity unit, a white countertop and a round illuminated mirror.

A walk-in shower with a transparent glass panel helps maintain the visual spaciousness of the bathroom.

## Built-In Washing Machine and Dryer

One of the most practical solutions in the bathroom is the tall built-in storage unit.

The washing machine and dryer are positioned one above the other, reducing the amount of floor space occupied by the appliances. Additional storage space is provided above them.

Next to the appliances, we designed tall blue cabinetry and a wall-hung toilet.

In small and medium-sized apartments, using vertical space in this way is extremely important. Instead of taking up additional floor space, storage can extend across the full height of the wall.

## Hamptons Style and Modern Classic Design in a 60 m² Apartment

It is difficult to define this interior using only one design style.

The foundation is modern classic design – light framed cabinet fronts, symmetry, elegant lighting, decorative wall mouldings and a calm colour palette.

At the same time, blue accents, coastal artwork, natural wood, light fabrics and white-and-blue patterns strongly refer to the Hamptons style.

Thanks to the restrained use of decorative elements, the apartment does not feel overly stylised. It remains bright, light and suitable for everyday living.

## Ready-Made Furniture Can Make an Apartment Easier to Furnish

One of the most important assumptions of this project was to select the furnishings in such a way that as many elements as possible could be purchased as ready-made products.

An interior design does not have to consist entirely of expensive furniture made by a carpenter. If an available product has the right dimensions, colour and function, there is often no need to design a custom-made alternative from scratch.

For this reason, our projects can include furniture from IKEA and other popular retailers, while custom-made furniture is used primarily where it provides a genuine functional benefit.

This approach allows the project to be adapted not only to the preferred style but also to the actual budget available for furnishing the apartment.

## An Apartment Designed for Everyday Life, Not Just for Photos

The apartment designed for Mr Tomasz from Warsaw shows that an attractive interior does not have to rely exclusively on expensive custom-made solutions.

Carefully selected ready-made furniture, an appropriate colour palette and several individually designed elements made it possible to create a coherent 60 m² apartment in which every area has a clearly defined function.

White and beige tones make the interior feel lighter, wood adds warmth, while blue and navy accents appearing throughout the living room, bedrooms and bathroom create a distinctive visual theme across the entire apartment.

This interior combines modern classic aesthetics with the Hamptons style while remaining practical and realistic to implement.
