12-year-old Andżelika’s room was meant to be more than just a place to sleep. It is a space that grows with her – combining school life, first passions, beauty rituals, and the need for privacy. On an area of 10,5m2 we created a **functional interior design** that blends the subtle aesthetics of white and powder pink with maximized built-in storage.

This **interior arrangement** proves that even in a narrow, rectangular room, it is possible to design a comfortable sleeping area, study zone, and daily grooming space – without aesthetic compromises.

## What will you learn from this article?

- how to plan a 10,5m2 room with dimensions 4,2 × 2,49 m in a functional way

- how to combine a vanity and a desk into one cohesive built-in unit

- how to design a large wardrobe in a narrow room

- what lighting works best in a teenage girl’s room

- how to choose a white-and-pink color palette so it stays subtle and timeless

- what materials to choose so the interior is durable and “grows” with the child

## Room analysis

The room has **10,5m2** and measures **4,2 × 2,49 m** – a narrow rectangle that required very precise planning.

Main design challenges:

- limited width,

- the need to fit a full-size wardrobe,

- the need to create a study area and a vanity,

- maintaining comfortable circulation.

Andżelika is 12 – a transitional stage between childhood and the teenage years. That’s why we wanted the design to avoid a childish look and instead feel elegant and delicate, with a feminine accent.

Our goal was to create an interior that is:

- bright and visually enlarged,

- organized thanks to made-to-measure built-ins,

- beautiful, yet highly functional.

## Interior concept – cohesive built-in furniture and maximum use of space

The central element of this design is the **built-in wall unit with a desk and a vanity**, connected to a tall wardrobe. This solution helped us organize the room and eliminate random standalone furniture pieces.

## Built-in desk and vanity

The desk was designed as a long, continuous worktop. On one side it functions as a study area, and on the other – as a subtle vanity with a large, backlit semi-circular mirror.

This solution:

- visually enlarges the room,

- adds lightness,

- creates a unique atmosphere.

LED lighting around the mirror and in the upper part of the built-in unit introduces soft, ambient light – perfect both for studying and for evening relaxation.

## A large wardrobe in a narrow room

The wardrobe was designed as a full-height built-in with minimalist, handleless fronts. Thanks to this, it:

- doesn’t overwhelm the interior,

- keeps a calm, unified line,

- visually increases the room height.

In such a narrow room, proportions were crucial – that’s why we divided the fronts with horizontal lines that rhythmically structure the volume.

## Bed and sleeping area

The bed with an upholstered, vertically channeled headboard in powder pink is a soft accent within the bright interior. It was placed along the wall to keep circulation comfortable.

Natural daylight coming through the large window with light curtains further enhances the coziness of this zone.

## Functional zones

Despite the small size, we divided the room into clear functional zones:

## 1. Sleeping zone

Located near the window, it provides access to daylight and a sense of privacy.

## 2. Study zone

The desk with an ergonomic chair ensures comfort for long hours at the computer and while doing homework.

## 3. Grooming zone

The vanity with a backlit mirror responds to the needs of a growing girl and gives her a private space of her own.

## 4. Storage zone

The large wardrobe and desk drawers help maintain order – which is essential in a small room.

## Material details

In this design we used:

- matte, light MDF fronts,

- a countertop and built-in elements in a warm white shade,

- wood-effect flooring in a warm tone,

- an upholstered headboard in pastel pink,

- warm-tone LED lighting.

We focused on durability and easy cleaning – that’s why the materials are resistant to everyday use.

## Color palette

The dominant palette includes:

- warm white,

- powder pink,

- natural wood.

This combination:

- visually enlarges the space,

- creates a calm atmosphere,

- adds a subtly feminine character.

We avoided strong colors – we wanted the interior to stay timeless and serve Andżelika well for years to come.

## Design team notes

*While designing this room, we focused strongly on proportions. In narrow interiors, every centimeter matters – that’s why the built-ins were custom-designed for the 4,2 × 2,49 m layout.*

*We wanted pink to be an accent, not the dominant color. This way the interior isn’t overly sweet – it feels elegant and more mature, just like its young owner.*

*This is a great example of how a well-thought-out **interior design** can completely transform a small space and become real **interior inspiration** for other parents.*

## FAQ – 10 questions and answers

## Is 10,5m2 enough for a vanity and a large wardrobe?

Yes – as long as you design made-to-measure built-ins and combine functions (for example: desk + vanity) into one cohesive line.

## How can you visually enlarge a narrow room?

Light colors, handleless uniform fronts, LED lighting, and airy curtains work best.

## Won’t a white-and-pink design feel too childish?

No, if pink is only an accent and the base remains white with warm neutral tones. Then the interior feels “teen” rather than “childish.”

## What lighting is best for a vanity?

Even, soft warm-tone LED light is ideal because it avoids harsh shadows on the face.

## Is it worth investing in custom built-ins?

In small rooms it’s the most practical solution – it uses every centimeter and helps keep the space organized.

## How do you choose a desk for a 12-year-old?

The desk should have a comfortable depth, space for a computer and lamp, and a good ergonomic chair to support proper posture.

## Are light-colored мебели practical in a child’s room?

Yes, if you choose matte finishes and easy-to-clean materials. A light base is also very flexible for styling.

## How can you plan lots of storage in a small room?

The key is using the full height (built-ins up to the ceiling) and adding roomy drawers in the desk area.

## How do you make a room “grow” with the child?

Use a neutral base and changeable accents (textiles, décor, color details) that can be updated easily.

## Can a design like this be done remotely?

Yes – at Fabryka Projektów we deliver online interior projects based on measurements, photos, and the family’s expectations.

Andżelika’s room is a great example of how thoughtful **interior arrangement** can combine aesthetics and functionality in a small space. The white-and-pink palette, made-to-measure built-ins, and clear zoning turn 10,5m2 into a comfortable, organized interior.
