Working on [a small bathroom of 4m2](https://f-projektow.pl/21-43-projekt-lazienki-projektowanie-lazienki.html) is always a challenge that requires precise planning, perfectly balanced proportions, and materials that create a cohesive, harmonious effect. In this project, our priority was to create an interior that is modern, bright, and functional – a space where every centimetre works to enhance everyday comfort. We designed a bathroom featuring grey stone-effect tiles, warm wooden accents, a fluted vanity cabinet, a glass shower enclosure, and soft LED lighting, creating an elegant composition. The bathtub, which also functions as a shower, becomes the heart of the room.

## Room analysis

Before starting the design process, we conducted a detailed analysis of the functional layout: a 4m2 area, a single window providing natural light, no possibility of relocating plumbing lines, the need to combine a bathtub and shower into one element, the requirement to create functional storage, and the investor’s expectations – a modern style, easy-to-clean surfaces, and a neutral colour palette.

In such a compact space, the key was maintaining simple lines, concealing unnecessary elements, and creating visual lightness through well-chosen materials and proportions.

## Project description – every element of the interior

## 1. Bathing zone – bathtub with shower function

The most distinctive feature of this bathroom is the built-in bathtub that also allows comfortable showering. We used a large stainless-steel rain showerhead, a handheld shower for everyday convenience, and a glass shower panel that protects the interior without blocking light.

The bathtub enclosure is finished with wood-effect tiles arranged in horizontal planks, warming the space and adding a natural character. Under the bathtub, we added recessed LED lighting, giving the impression of a floating form. Above the bathtub, we designed an elongated niche with wood cladding and an LED strip – ideal for cosmetics and decorative accents.

## 2. Washbasin zone – fluted vanity and LED-lit mirror

In a small bathroom, it is essential to combine aesthetics with functionality. For this reason, we used a fluted vanity cabinet – vertical slatted fronts, a minimalist handleless form, generous internal storage, and a visually light appearance that perfectly matches modern wooden accents.

The LED-lit mirror with neutral light temperature and a rectangular shape optically enlarges the space, making it ideal for makeup and daily care routines, while also serving as an important decorative feature. This area became the operational centre of the bathroom.

## 3. WC zone – light and minimalist

We designed a wall-hung toilet for easier cleaning, a minimalist concealed cistern system, and cabinetry above the WC – matte white doors combined with a wooden niche and interior LED lighting. This part of the bathroom is organised, subtle, and fully cohesive with the rest of the interior.

## 4. Materials used – details that shape the effect

Large-format grey stone-effect tiles visually enlarge the space, their natural texture creates a spa-like atmosphere, and they are timeless and easy to maintain. Wood-effect tiles warm the interior, balancing modernity with comfort, and are perfect for humid areas.

Stainless-steel details – the bathtub mixer, rain shower, handles, shower rail, and towel stand – create a clean, minimalist line that ties the design together.

## 5. Lighting – the key element in small bathrooms

We used three layers of lighting: a linear LED strip at the ceiling that creates an elegant frame and adds height; LED lighting in the bathtub niche, which is both decorative and functional; and LED lighting under the bathtub, creating the effect of a floating form and adding a designer touch. In small bathrooms, lighting becomes a tool that literally builds the space.

## Functional zones – how this bathroom works

The bath and shower zone is multifunctional, ergonomic, and designed to be both practical and aesthetically pleasing. The washbasin zone is the best-lit area with generous storage. The WC zone is discreet, organised, and minimalist. The storage zone includes the cabinetry above the toilet, the vanity cabinet, and the illuminated niche.

## Designer’s comment

“The key to this bathroom was achieving balance. A 4m2 space is demanding, so we wanted no single element to dominate, ensuring the entire composition remained harmonious. The combination of stone-effect grey tiles with warm wood introduced modern character without coldness. The fluted vanity was a deliberate choice – we wanted to add subtle elegance and texture that aligns perfectly with current design trends.”

## Summary

This 4m2 bathroom demonstrates that even very small interiors can be modern, luxurious, and highly functional. Light grey stone-effect tiles, wooden accents, the fluted vanity, and carefully designed lighting make the space practical for everyday use and visually exceptional.

This project proves that the right proportions, consistent material selection, and well-planned built-ins can dramatically improve the quality of a small bathroom.
